EA Access is coming to Steam. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order available on Nov. 15th
Last week, we reported that EA was thinking about putting their titles back onto Steam. It’s been a few years since they released a game on to Steam, since getting their own storefront, Origin, online. In fact, the last EA released on Steam was an expansion, The Sims 3 – Into the Future. However, we weren’t completely correct, as they aren’t just releasing just games onto Steam. They’re also putting EA Access also onto Steam (Spring 2020).
Yes, EA’s subscription service, EA Access, will be available on Steam as of November 15th. Which also means that their entire catalog of games is also coming over.
Electronic Arts and Valve have partnered to put EA games into the hands of the players on Steam. Starting next spring, EA Access—our ever-growing subscription service powered by great games and member benefits—will be making its way to Steam. EA Access is the first and only gaming subscription service available on Steam, and the fourth platform featuring an EA subscription.
The partnership kicks off with Star Wars™ Jedi: Fallen Order launching on November 15—and available for pre-order today. In the coming months, players on Steam will also be able to play other major titles like The Sims™ 4 and Unravel™ Two. Multiplayer games—like Apex Legends™, FIFA 20, and Battlefield™ V—will become available next year, and players on both Origin™ and Steam will have the ability to play together.
A library of titles awaits you in The Vault, but beyond the games themselves, EA Access enhances your gaming experience with a medley of rewards. Get the red-carpet treatment with exclusive catalog-wide discounts, and in-game member benefits for some of our biggest franchises.

As for what this means for EA, well, it just means they’ll make more money. They wised up that not everyone is keen on having multiple storefronts and launchers for their PC gaming. So instead of leaving that money on the table, bringing their games and services to Steam. Which is just good business sense, at least to me it is.
For those wondering if you’ll need EA Access to play EA games on Steam, the answer is no. You will still need an EA account, so this looks to be similar to how Ubisoft’s Uplay games are on Steam. You can see this under the requirements for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
INTERNET CONNECTION; EA ACCOUNT; STEAM ACCOUNT; ACCEPTANCE OF EA USER AGREEMENT (terms.ea.com) & ORIGIN END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT (ea.com/legal); AND DOWNLOAD & INSTALLATION OF THE ORIGIN CLIENT SOFTWARE (origin.com/download) REQUIRED TO PLAY. YOU MUST LINK YOUR EA AND STEAM ACCOUNTS TO PLAY; EA WILL SHARE YOUR ACCOUNT ID AND INDIVIDUAL GAME AND PLAY RECORDS WITH STEAM TO VALIDATE YOUR PURCHASE AND/OR REFUND REQUEST.
As for EA bringing the entire catalog of EA games to Steam, that’s not clear. While a select few are coming to Steam, it doesn’t spell out if every EA game is coming to Steam. For example, nowhere is Need for Speed: Heat mentioned and it releases next week. It only states “A library of titles awaits you in The Vault”, but it doesn’t spell it out for us. We’ve reached out to EA to get some clarification on the matter.
Update: An EA Community Lead, Ben Walke has mentioned that more games are on the way.
