We’re one week away from Destiny 2 making the jump from Battle.net and over to Steam. If you’re a Destiny 2 player like myself, I know the excitement is getting to you. With the date rapidly approaching, looks like Bungie has pushed the pre-loads live on Steam.
Heading over to Steam and browsing to Destiny 2, you’ll see that the pre-load button is ready for you to click on it. This includes the full game and the F2P version, Destiny 2: New Light.
According to the Steam page, the download is 79 GB, uncompressed at 105 GB. Meaning if you play on jumping into Shadowkeep on the day, then getting this pre-loaded now isn’t such a bad idea.
In addition to coming to Steam, Destiny 2 will also feature Steam Achievements and full controller support. Not that the game didn’t already have decent controller support, but perhaps it’s been tweaked a bit more. Not listed is also the ability to stream the game via OBS, which is something we haven’t been able to do outside of desktop or monitor capture. At least, that’s what the going rumor is, to which I hope is true.
If you already own Destiny 2, you won’t have to pay for it again. You just need to go to Bungie’s website and link your account to Steam. Once done, you’ll be able to transfer your guardian/s over and you’re done. Failing to do this means once October 1st rolls around, you’ll no longer be able to log on to Battle.net to play the game.
Destiny 2: Shadowkeep launches on October 1st, where players will find themselves heading back to the Moon to face new dangers. A location that we haven’t visited since the first Destiny game. I can’t wait to get back there and see what Bungie has in store for us.
Can’t wait!
