When we reviewed Wolfenstein: Youngblood, we heavily criticized the game’s armor system and general sponginess of the enemies. The game’s newest patch aims to remedy some of those issues.
Patch 1.04 dropped recently on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, adding the much-desired ability to pause the game while playing offline among other things. Patch 1.05, though, is bringing some more substantial changes along with it, most notably difficulty adjustments for boss encounters, increased ammo spawn rates, and several changes to make enemies feel less spongy.
Here are the key changes coming with Patch 1.05:
- Adjusting difficulty of all boss fights
- Taking a variety of actions designed to reduce the feeling of enemy “bullet sponginess”
- Granting ammo for basic weapons after player respawn
- Adding more special weapon ammo throughout more difficult areas
- Adding duplicate tutorial laptops to the game to make 100% completion more attainable
- Fixing an issue that could cause an area to respawn enemies prematurely
On top of that, the AI companion is being improved so she won’t stand in the open and go down as much, and the game’s towers are getting much-needed checkpoints. You’ll also be able to toggle health bars on and off in the new update, but it won’t tell you which weapon type to use, so unless you have that stuff memorized, you’re better off leaving them on.
Patch 1.05 is available on PC right now and will be released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One sometime next week. The Switch version will receive 1.04 and 1.05 as a combined patch in the coming weeks. You can check out the full list of changes here.
