Whoever said women aren’t funny is probably wondering how in the world Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel has gotten so much acclaim, both critically and from fans. The rest of us, however, are just thrilled that Midge is getting to shine in a third season of the hit show:
For Midge Maisel, it looks she really is going on tour with singer Shy Baldwin as his opening act, a dream come true with the burgeoning comedian. From what we can tell, Midge’s current squeeze Ben is now out of the picture, and her relationship with her sort-of-ex-husband Joel seems to be working out well. We get the briefest glimpse of Sterling K. Brown in his undisclosed role, looking like he’s probably a part of Baldwin’s entourage. She might even get to do a USO show! Her manager Susie also looks like she will take on Sophie Lennon, a comic who looks to broaden her horizons and act on stage, but a move that could cause friction between the dynamic duo.
Show creator Amy Sherman-Palladino recently talked about Maisel’s path in the upcoming season:
“Her journey this year that we’ve set out for her is it’s the first time she’s setting out as a road comic, it’s the first time she’s getting paid for this, it’s the first time she’s going to have consistency, and she’s dealing with audiences that aren’t her people. That is going to bring its own story twist to it, we’re definitely going to some different places in Season 3.”
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 3 premieres on Amazon Prime on December 6, 2019.
