You’ll be able to get your hands on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare almost a month ahead of its already planned multiplayer beta if a set of leaks are to be believed.
Call of Duty YouTuber TheGamingRevolution, who has been particularly accurate when it comes to leaking Modern Warfare information, tweeted a cryptic tweet comprised of three emojis a few days ago. The emojis in question are a gun, a fist, and a test tube, and if you add those three together, you get “gunfight test.” Gunfight is Modern Warfare‘s competitive 2v2 mode, and it looks like a technical test might be on the way.

A post on the Modern Warfare subreddit that surfaced yesterday adds even more credibility to the rumor. “Got this information from a place that obviously can’t be said at the moment,” writes Reddit user Yessiree2. “TGR hasn’t posted about it yet but he knows as well. He was teasing it a few hours ago on his twitter using a combination of emojis.” This post stated that the test would run from August 22 through August 26 following an announcement on Monday, August 19.
TheGamingRevolution has since reported in a comment on a recent YouTube video that he has received confirmation from one of his sources that Gunfight will have a public test soon, although the dates are uncertain. He was able to confirm, however, that the test will have three playable maps and will be exclusive to PlayStation 4, which makes sense considering PlayStation 4 owners get early access to Modern Warfare‘s multiplayer beta as well.
The rumored reveal date, August 19, lines up with a planned “special announcement” regarding Modern Warfare at Gamescom Opening Night Live.
