A recent rumor regarding a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare open alpha turned out to be true. Modern Warfare‘s 2v2 Gunfight mode will be playable for PlayStation 4 owners beginning this weekend
Modern Warfare‘s multiplayer has been described as having a wide range of experiences, from standard Call of Duty matches to larger-scale modes with upwards of 100 players to smaller, tenser experiences like Gunfight. Gunfight is a new mode for the Call of Duty series, and it seems to be one of the flagship modes for Modern Warfare. You can check out the trailer for the open alpha below.
The Gunfight open alpha will begin this Friday, August 23 and will only be available for the weekend. Players will have access to five maps: Speedball, King, Pine, Docks, and Stack. No codes or pre-orders are necessary to participate, but you will need to pre-order if you want early access to the game’s upcoming beta.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be released on October 25 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. If you’re not able to take part in this weekend’s alpha test, then there’s always the beta, which will begin on the weekend of September 14 for PlayStation 4 and the weekend of September 21 for Xbox and PC, with pre-orders getting two days early access to each beta period.
