The next entry in the Gears of War series just got a little bit closer. Gears 5 has gone gold, and the team at The Coalition has outlined some of the things that are planned to be shown about the game at this year’s Gamescom.
For those of you unfamiliar with the phrase “going gold,” it just means that the game disc is ready and has been sent off to make copies so the game will be on store shelves in time for launch. The Coalition will still be working on updates and additional content in the time leading up to launch, but the 1.0 version of Gears 5 is complete.
Rod Fergusson, Studio Head at The Coalition, shared some words about this huge milestone in the game’s development. “From all of us at The Coalition, we couldn’t be more excited to share Gears 5 with the world. I want to thank the team here who has worked so hard for our fans, and we all hope you are all as excited as we are to play Gears 5.”
This year’s Gamescom is shaping up to be a big one, and Gears 5 will have a huge presence at the show this year. During August’s episode of Inside Xbox, which is scheduled for Monday, August 19, the team will show off the game’s all-new Horde mode. Soon thereafter, we’ll finally get our first look at the Gears 5 campaign during Gamescom Opening Night Live. The Coalition has been saying great things about the game’s story this time around, but details have been scarce until now.
For all you achievement hunters out there, the full achievement list for Gears 5 has been revealed ahead of launch, with a total of 71 achievements spanning Campaign, Versus, Horde Mode, Map Builder, and the game’s new Escape mode.
Gears 5 will be released on September 10 for Xbox One and PC. The game will be available on Xbox Game Pass day one, and those who pre-order the Gears 5 Ultimate Addition as well as Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will get early access to the game four days early on September 6.
