No, you are not high as a kite nor hallucinating, that headline is correct. Zack Snyder, best known for the DCEU’s Justice League is working on an anime series for Netflix that will be based in Norse mythology. He will co-create the series with storyboard artist and frequent collaborator Jay Oliva, who worked with him on several films.
This will be Snyder’s first TV project, and he will act as the executive producer while Oliva is the showrunner. Unfortunately, we don’t have any more details than that on the show, even an episode count or a tentative premiere year.
“Zack Snyder’s innovation in visual storytelling has pushed the industry forward and established him as one of the most distinctive filmmakers of his generation. We are beyond excited to partner with him and his exceptional team to bring the iconic characters and stories of Norse mythology to life in his inimitable style,” said John Derderian, head of anime programming at Netflix, to Deadline.
This isn’t Snyder’s first project with Netflix though. He is currently working on zombie feature film Army of the Dead, which will star Dave Bautista. Still, it’s a weird idea – Snyder working on an anime project when he’s never touched animation before. Stay tuned to The Outerhaven as we continue to report on this project as it develops.
