It’s no question that there were a whole lot of feelings, theories, and questions after Avengers: Endgame hit theaters, but one of the biggest to remain was what happened to Gamora?
At the end of Endgame, Thanos and all the soldiers that came with him were turned to dust after Tony Stark uses the Infinity Gauntlet. However, everyone wondered if that meant Gamora was turned to dust as well, given that she had been brought along with Thanos as one of his soldiers. Some theorized that her turn mid-battle to the heroes means she got spared, others that there was some weird time-wimey issue about the Soul Stone sacrifice. Thanks to a deleted scene from the film, we do get an acknowledgement that Endgame Gamora is very much still alive and out there:

Why did this emotional, and clearly important scene get cut? Well, it just ended up getting supplanted by the funeral scene:
“It’s a beautiful scene with moving performances, but we filmed it prior to Tony Stark’s funeral,” directors Joe and Anthony Russo tells USA TODAY. “The funeral scene ultimately became a more resonant and emotional reflection on Tony’s death for us.”
So what does this mean? Well, Zoe Saldana is definitely coming back so that’s great. It also means that the hunt for Gamora will be, at least in part, the plot of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and that we can remove her name from the Endgame kill count.
