AX 2019: Seven Seas Announces New Manga Licenses

Seven Seas announced new manga and novel licenses during its panel at Anime Expo. Below are the titles that were announced

Manga

Citrus+

Synopsis: Yuzu Aihara, a fashionable, spontaneous and fun-loving city-girl, transfers to a new neighborhood and high-school after her mother’s remarriage to another man. More preoccupied with boys and shopping than studying, Yuzu struggles to fit in at the conservative girls’ school and frequently clashes with the student council—specifically Mei Aihara, the hard-working, beautiful but cold student council president. As it turns out, Mei happens to be Yuzu’s new step-sister and Yuzu finds herself having to share a bedroom with a girl she absolutely can’t stand. The series follows the evolution of the relationship between the two girls, with the animosity slowly lessening as the two begin to learn more about each other and confusion growing as Yuzu discovers that she is starting to develop romantic feelings for her new step-sister.

The Conditions of Paradise

Synopsis: A story about two adult women figuring out the boundaries in their relationship–is too much freedom a bad thing?

Release: February 2020

GIGANT

Synopsis: Rei Yokoyamada is a 16 year old high school student who wants to follow in his movie producer father’s footsteps by making a movie to submit to a film festival. After a classmate asked to take the role of the female lead bows out, he wanders the neighborhood and sees posters announcing that Papico (real name “Chiho Johansson”), a buxom AV actress that Rei is a fan of, lives in the area. Events soon transpire that cause Rei and Chiho to meet in person. The two quickly become friends and start chatting online.

Then Chiho finds a middle-aged man in his underwear bleeding on the sidewalk. When she tries to help, the man turns into a doll, leaving her with a DVD and a mysterious device implanted into her wrist that allows her to turn into a giant.

The King of Fighters: A New Beginning

Synopsis: Based on the smash-hit fighting game “The King of Fighters”! An epic tournament is being held to determine who is the strongest man in the world and will gain the title of “King of Fighters”! The colorful contestants, in 15 established teams of three, all have exceptional abilities, be it in magic or martial arts.

With Shun’ei of Team China declaring a personal challenge to Kyo Kusanagi of Japan Team, this tournament promises much excitement — but who will be on top in the end!?

Metamorphose no Engawa

Synopsis: A history about a 75-year-old woman and a 15-year-old girl that become friends because of their interest in BL – Boys Love manga.

Release: April 2020

My Androgynous Boyfriend

Synopsis: This is a story about the romantic relationship between Wako, an OL who works for a publishing company and is dating a genderless man who has the perfect makeup, clothes, hair and nails. It depicts their daily lives between a boyfriend whose only aim is to be beautiful for her.

Release: February 2020

My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero’s

Synopsis: Oda Akira, a high school student who excels in erasing his presence, was summoned along with his classmates to another world.

In this world of sword and magic, Akira and his classmates were asked to become heroes and bring down the demon king.

Having a bad feeling about the king and the princess who asked them, Akira uses his special skills to sneak into the king’s library, in hopes of discovering the truth.

Whether to help or abandon his classmates who knew nothing, it all depended on Akira.

Primitive Boyfriend

Synopsis: Regular high school girl Mito Kamigome wants to fall in love. She gets some interest from good-looking guys, but they’re all a bit…weedy. One day, the goddess of agriculture, Spica, appears to her and sends Mito back through time so she can find her kind of guy. Will Mito really meet her soulmate in the prehistoric era? Only time will tell…

Novels

At Night, I Become a Monster

Synopsis: The novel centers on an unnamed protagonist who turns into a monster at night. One night, he goes to retrieve something he forgot at school, thinking that no one would be present at school. But it is there in his classroom that he meets a classmate named Satsuki Yano.

Release: Spring/Summer 2020

Bloom Into You: Regarding Saeki Sayaka

Synopsis: The story focuses on Sayaka’s past. In the first part, while still in elementary school, Sayaka has her first experience with romantic feelings when she meets a free-spirited girl in her swimming class. The second part explores Sayaka’s relationship with her senpai in junior high school and the fallout of its ending, as briefly explained in the manga.

Release: February 2020
