Another day, another literary adaptation goes to a streaming service. This time, we’re looking at the popular The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan, a.k.a James Oliver Rigney Jr. and the streaming service is Amazon Prime. And this is no small-budget adaptation either, seeing that they just cast Rosamund Pike as the lead.

Here’s the synopsis provided by Variety:
Based on Robert Jordan’s best-selling fantasy novels, The Wheel of Time is set in a high fantasy world where magic exists, but only certain women are allowed to access it. The story follows Moiraine as she embarks on a dangerous, world-spanning journey with five young men and women, one of whom is prophesied to be the Dragon Reborn, a powerful individual who will either save humanity or destroy it.
The Wheel of Time follows Pike will play Moiraine, a member of the powerful all-female organization called the Aes Sedai. Rafe Judkins, who previously worked on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hemlock Grove, will be the showrunner.
“The Wheel of Time is endlessly fascinating and resonates hugely with fans as one of the best-selling global book franchises, and we were drawn to its timely narrative featuring powerful women at the core,” Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke said last year once the deal was struck, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
There’s no word as to when the show will start shooting, let alone when it will be available to watch. Stay tuned to The Outerhaven for more information as the show goes into development.
