So, you want to hear another story, huh? A new piece of downloadable content for 2012’s Borderlands 2 was rumored just before the official reveal of Borderlands 3, but recent leaked information directly from a Steam store page (which has since been taken down) confirms more Borderlands 2 content is on the way. Twitter user @RobotBrush first spotted the listing, and a thread on ResetEra provides us with a description and a gallery of screenshots.

Borderlands 2: Commander Lilith & The Fight for Sanctuary will see players exploring completely new areas, taking on brand new bosses, and of course, acquiring tons of sweet loot, with a whole new rarity above legendary. It’ll bridge the gap between Borderlands 2 and Borderlands 3, hopefully clearing up any questions fans have about the gap between games. You can check out the full description below.
Return to the award winning shooter-looter for a new adventure that sets the stage for the upcoming Borderlands 3. Sanctuary is under siege, the Vault’s map has been stolen and a toxic gas is poisoning Pandora. Fight new bosses, explore new zones, get new loot (including an entirely new tier beyond Legendary) and join up with Lilith and the Crimson Raiders to take on a deranged villain hell-bent on ruling the planet.
If your Borderlands 2 characters are fully leveled with min-maxed builds and the best legendary weapons, then you’ll be pleased to know that the level cap will be increased to 80. For those of you who haven’t put as much time into Borderlands 2 (or maybe you just haven’t transferred your characters to The Handsome Collection), you’ll be able to immediately boost a character to level 30 to jump right into the new content.
The most exciting news to come out of this leak is that the DLC will be completely free. Not only that, but the release date for the Steam version was set for June 9, which is this weekend. Commander Lilith & The Fight For Sanctuary will more than likely be revealed during Microsoft’s E3 presentation on June 9 and be available to download immediately. There’s no word on how lengthy the new content will be, but if you’re dying to know more, you can check out an album of screenshots here.
Microsoft’s E3 press conference will take place on Sunday, June 9 at 1 PM PT. For a more comprehensive E3 schedule, you can check out our guide on when and where you can watch each press conference here.
