E3 2019: Ubisoft’s Newest IP Gods and Monsters Teased, Coming Early 2020

By Robert DolenJune 10, 2019

Book-ending Ubisoft’s E3 conference was their latest new IP: Gods and Monsters, an RPG inspired by Ancient Greek myths and legends, is coming early next year to all major platforms.

A short teaser of the new game showcased a stylized open world full of mythical creatures, ancient gods, and beautiful landscapes.

Developed by the same team behind Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, players will take on the role of Fenyx, “A hero forgotten by myth,” who is meant to avenge the Greek gods by defeating an army of mythological creatures so they may return to Mt. Olympus again.

According to Ubisoft, the game will feature dungeon crawling, puzzle-solving elements, multiple quest-lines and vast open-world exploration.

Gods and Monsters appears to be vastly different in comparison to Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, diving straight into mythology without being grounded in reality. The game seems to evoke a very free-form Breath of the Wild gameplay style that favors discovery and non-linear gameplay.

Gods and Monsters is set to release on February 25, 2020 for PS4 and Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, as well as Uplay+ and Google Stadia.

I'm Rob Dolen, not to be confused with Bob Dole! That's alright, I get it all the time. I play too much Super Smash Bros. competitively, but when I'm not doing that I play pretty much everything else under the video game sun.
