People must really love zombies
The zombie shooting game that has been scratching my Left 4 Dead itch, World War Z, has almost hit another milestone. According to Focus Home Interactive, the title is very close to surpassing 2 million in sold copies worldwide.
World War Z has fast become one of our most successful interactive games to date. It’s a testament to both the incredible co-op action experience that Saber Interactive and Focus Home Interactive have crafted, as well as the strong appeal of our hit franchise with fans across the globe — Josh Austin, SVP, WW Licensing and Interactive at Paramount Pictures
That’s amazing news for Saber Interactive, who was previously known for their NBA Playgrounds game. A game that wasn’t really received well. World War Z, on the other hand, has been an amazing experience. Especially when swarms of zombies start forming and approaching you and the bullets start flying. I’ve been having fun with this game, and I’ve also impressed with the optimization of the title on the PC.
However, what’s really impressive about the news is that while the game is available on both the PS4 and Xbox One. It’s also available for the PC — exclusive to the Epic Games Store. Something that may have prevented more sales that possibly should have been due to how Epic Games has been rubbing the PC gaming community the wrong way. I didn’t think it would have sold as well as it has, which is great news. I really hope that more PC gaming folks give this game a try. It takes what made Left 4 Dead so good and expands on it.
Congrats to Saber Interactive and Focus Home Interactive. I’m sure we’ll be hearing about the game hitting 3 million in sales in the upcoming months.
