Jordan Peele had a busy 2018, though most of that work was behind the scenes getting projects ready. Now, however, we get to see the fruits of that labor with the newest teaser for CBS All Access’s The Twilight Zone. And they did it in the spirit of the original show by seemingly interrupting the Super Bowl:
The commercial starts off like we’ll be returning the football broadcast. However, the signal starts to cut out and, suddenly, the entire stadium is empty and CBS goes off air. Not to worry, Jordan Peele comes to save us with his best Rod Serling impression, walking across the field and delivering an ominous monologue, ending with “When the truth is not the truth, what dimension are you even in?” He walks through a doorway as a creepy, slow-down version of the classic theme plays, and many of us get goosebumps.
Peele will be the show’s host, but he’s not the only big name attached to this project. Here’s some of the more famous names to be announced as part of the cast for season 1:
- John Cho
- Taissa Farmiga
- Greg Kinnear
- Steven Yeun
- Kumail Nanjiani
- Adam Scott
- Jessica Williams
- Jacob Tremblay
- Ike Barinholtz
- Lucinda Dryzek
- Luke Kirby
- Sanaa Lathan
- Rhea Seehorn
- Alison Tolman
- Jefferson White
- Jonathan Whitesell
- DeWanda Wise
It’s clear that CBS is finally get the star-power needed to lift All Access service from an oddity to something with staying power. Between this, Star Trek: Discovery and the recently-announced The Stand adaptation, you might have to add on yet another streamer to your growing list.
This teaser was one of this year’s surprises, but it’s nothing like the wrench that Netflix threw in the works when last year, it announced during the Super Bowl that the then mysterious The Cloverfield Paradox was finally available to watch.
The Twilight Zone will premiere on CBS All Access on April 1, 2019.
