Mortal Kombat 11 might just be the most anticipated Mortal Kombat game in history, and NetherRealm studios is doing its best to keep the hype going with things like the Kombat Kast. A livestream that brings together fans and the development team to answer questions and tease what’s coming next.
The first episode aired today, and confirmed the tease from the Community Reveal event that Kabal is coming back in Mortal Kombat 11, and he looks more epic, and even faster, than ever. His trailer came with the following description:
Resurrected as a twisted, evil version of himself, Kabal now serves the Netherrealm and pledges to destroy all other realms.
An interesting twist on the speedy character. And yes, his speed is once again an element in his fighting style. But now, he’s always using his Shaolin Twin Hooks more, making him an even greater (and more brutal) distance fighter.
Sadly, a character was debunked for the upcoming game. A recent meme caught fire and had people begging NetherRealm Studios to bring in Shaggy from Scooby-Doo into the game. This was asked about during the Q&A portion of the Kombat Kast, and this was their answer:
“Shaggy will never appear in Mortal Kombat,” Community Manager Tyler Lansdown said emphatically, staring directly at the camera. “Dead meme.”
While I highly doubt the meme will die, this does appear to be definitive, and a very popular Change.org petition has now been for nothing.
The game releases on April 23rd.
