Fruits Basket is coming back in April with a remake of the original anime; however, America is, once again, embracing a culture that has begun in Japan and will be airing the first two episodes of the anime across the country in theaters, courtesy of FUNimation! The anime will screen in theaters on March 26 (English dubbed) and March 27 (Japanese w/English subtitles).
Another thing that the U.S. is embracing from the Japanese culture is that those who attend the theatrical releases will be treated to a special gift bag that includes a lanyard, a 16 oz. collector’s cup, and three badges featuring the characters Yuki, Kyo, and Tohru.
MyAnimeList.net describes Fruits Basket as follows:
After a family tragedy turns her life upside down, 16-year-old high schooler Tooru Honda takes matters into her own hands and moves out…into a tent! Unfortunately for her, she pitches her new home on private land belonging to the mysterious Souma clan, and it isn’t long before the owners discover her secret. But, as Tooru quickly finds out when the family offers to take her in, the Soumas have a secret of their own–when hugged by the opposite sex, they turn into the animals of the Chinese Zodiac!
