Updated: Sega released the trailer for Yakuza Kiwami today. It’s so good.
Original story below.
While Sega had already released Yakuza Zero on to Steam, making it the first time the series has been on the PC. They also announced that Yakuza Kiwami, a remake of the original Yakuza title, would also come to the PC. Except, they never gave us a release date and since then we’ve been waiting.
Well, that waiting ends now. Well, sort of anyway. In a recent update on the Yakuza Kiwami Steam page, there’s a gif of Majima, appearing from a manhole. Majima is a reoccurring character in the game that challenges the protagonist of the game in fights. He happens to pop up from a manhole in the game as well.
But what’s interesting about this gif is that there’s a flicker in the final frame. Saving that image and opening it in an application that plays videos, you can pause on that last frame and gives you the release date of February 19, 2019.
Got to hand it to Sega, they’re having way too much fun with these cryptic reveals.
I originally I thought was a hoax, until I actually checked the gif out myself and it’s definitely legit.
There’s still no price listed, however, I’m assuming the game will be priced similarly to Yakuza Zero, which was $19.99. So there you go, we finally have a date for the game. While you wait, be sure to check out our review of PlayStation 4 version of Yakuza Kiwami.
