The core public figures of Blizzard’s Hearthstone team exited the company last year to form a new independent game studio called Second Dinner. Yesterday, Ben Brode, Yong Woo, Hamilton Chu, Jamaro Kindred, and Michael Schweitzer announced that Second Dinner has been funded for $30 million and through a partnership with Marvel and NetEase, they will be working on their first official game title. The partnership with NetEase indicates that their first title will be a mobile game, although, very little details have been said about it. NetEase has also partnered with Blizzard for their polarizing title Diablo: Immortal.
Marvel themselves confirmed the partnership in a Tweet yesterday as well:
We are thrilled to be partnering with @seconddinner! Please join us in welcoming them to the Marvel Games family! https://t.co/NxXONv31P7
