Detective Pikachu doesn’t come out in theaters until May 10 and yet, Legendary Pictures is already going ahead with a sequel to the film! Legendary Pictures has hired Oren Uziel to write the sequel’s script and work on it has already begun.
Uziel has previously worked on 22 Jump Street and The Cloverfield Paradox. He also has his name attached to two upcoming movie titles: Sonic the Hedgehog and Men in Black: International.
Outside of this announcement, there are no details on what is planned as far as story goes and/or if Ryan Reynolds will be returning as Pikachu, although with his level of enthusiasm over taking the role of Pikachu, it’s a safe bet to assume Reynolds will be back to voice him again the second time around.
It’s very rare to see a movie sequel confirmed before the first one even hits the box office. This shows the level of confidence Legendary Pictures has in the movie. I guess we all better go out and see it. We wouldn’t want the sequel to get canceled now, do we?
