Overwatch is one of the most popular games in the last few years. The Nintendo Switch is a mobile console that is tearing up the sales charts in both hardware and software. So you’d think that it would be a no-brainer to bring these two together in order to make a big event via its release. But Blizzard hasn’t pulled the trigger on it, or, they haven’t admitted they’ve pulled the trigger, and they keep teasing as to whether they will or won’t.
Case in point, at BlizzCon 2018, Eurogamer talked with Jeff Kaplan, who noted the following about the game possibly coming to Switch.
Our philosophy has always been we want as many players playing Overwatch as possible, and we want to reach as many possible Overwatch players as are out there. We will always explore a platform if we think we could make it viable – both the technology and the business relationship. We would love to do it.
We don’t have anything to announce or any plans with Nintendo or Switch at this time, but –
Yeah, that’s hardly definitive, and Eurogamer picked up on that, and all but demanded to know whether Blizzard would consider putting the game on Switch:
It’s something we’re very open-minded about.
Will the teasing never cease? Apparently not. Guess we’ll have to hold on to hope Switch gamers.
