Adaptations are always tough to get right, especially when it’s a franchise that has die-hard fans. So when Henry Cavill made his first appearance as Geralt of Rivia for the upcoming adaptation of The Witcher, the reaction was…well, hilarious.
For those of you just catching up now, on Halloween, Netflix tweeted out a short video of Cavill in full make-up and wig:
Henry Cavill? is that you? first look at The Witcher's Geralt of Rivia. coming 2019 pic.twitter.com/flbZV0VBIa

Almost immediately, the memes began, poking fun at the ridiculously cheap looking wig and just how poorly it all came together. They compared the get-up to Raiden, Lucius Malfoy, and a bad Legolas cosplay. Here are just some, some of the epic burns that came out of this attempt to get people excited for the show.

Neither Netflix nor Cavill have responded at this time, but we can assume they’re taking the roasting well. Will this end up pushing them to make changes to Geralt’s look? Maybe, but for now, let’s the memes reign.
The Witcher is set to premiere on Netflix sometime in 2019.
