It’s been a long wait, but Kingdom Hearts 3 is almost upon us. As such, Square Enix revealed much of the voice cast today, especially from Disney properties new to the series. First things first, however, Haley Joel Osment will absolutely return as series protagonist Sora. Tony Anselmo and Bill Farmer will also lend their voices to their roles as Donald Duck and Goofy, respectively. Excellent. Now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s get into the myriad of performers set to reprise their Disney roles, shall we?
Breaking it down by Disney series, here’s who we’ve got so far:
Frozen
Perhaps most surprisingly, Frozen has the most original cast members set to return. Guess they couldn’t let it go. Okay, bad puns out of the way we have Josh Gad as Olaf, Kristin Bell as Anna, Idina Menzel as Elsa, and Jonathan Groff as Kristoff. No word yet on Sven the Talking Reindeer but I have a funny feeling his voice actor will return (Okay, it’s also Groff).
Tangled
One of the first Disney films announced for Kingdom Hearts 3, Tangled will see two of its principal voice actors returning. Zachary Levi and Donna Murphy will reprise their roles as Flynn Rider and Mother Gothel, respectively. Noticeably absent is Mandy Moore as Rapunzel, since the long-haired lass has been a big part of what’s been shown so far.
Toy Story
Two Toy Story veterans have been confirmed for the cast. First we have John Ratzenberger as Hamm. While we don’t have any word on who’s returning from Monsters, Inc. Ratzenberger could also reprise his role as the Abominable Snowman. Next we have Wallace Shawn back as Rex. Inconceivable? I think not.
Hercules
The only Disney voice actor announced who’s a veteran of the Kingdom Hearts series is Tate Donovan as Hercules. Donovan previously lent his voice to the hero in Kingdom Hearts 2 and Kingdom Hearts Re:coded.
Pirates of the Caribbean
When the world of Pirates of the Caribbean first debuted in Kingdom Hearts II, it was slightly disappointing to find that none of the original cast returned to reprise their roles. Thankfully this time around the character of First Mate Gibbs will appear, along with his original actor Kevin R. McNally.
And so far, that’s who we have. Naturally there are still a number of voice actors who Square Enix and Disney have yet to announce. Due to the sheer number of Disney worlds appearing in the upcoming title, it’s likely that the full number of performers won’t be known until the game releases. So far this list focuses on most of the Disney worlds new to the series, so it’s understandable that most returning worlds wouldn’t have their casts announced. Nevertheless there are a couple notable absences. Still no word on Big Hero 6, another film new to the game series. And while we have the vocal talents of series mainstays Sora, Donald, and Goofy confirmed, we have yet to find out about Riku and Kairi.
Nevertheless, the wait to find out the full cast of Kingdom Hearts 3 is not as long as it once seemed. The game will release for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on January 29, 2018.
