If there’s one thing that won’t go out of style it’s beating up Nazis. In the latest Wolfenstein reboot that kicked off in 2015 with The New Order, B.J. Blazkowicz is tasked with building a resistance against a Nazi force that ended up winning World War II. Bethesda and MachineGames have just confirmed that this Wolfenstein franchise will soon become a trilogy.
In an interview with GameCentral, Bethesda’s Pete Hines guaranteed that Wolfenstein III will happen. This may not come as a surprise, since Wolfenstein: The New Order was a hit, especially in the UK. However, the announcement of a third game still came close to not occurring. Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus didn’t sell as well as anticipated, compared to its predecessor. Hines still remarked that “we all have to see how [the series] ends,” implying that the team always imagined it would become a trilogy.
Don’t expect the game to arrive anytime soon, since Bethesda is still hard at work on Wolfenstein: Youngblood. But the good news for fans is that while B.J. Blazkowicz’s story may take some time to wrap up, there will still be another game in that universe arriving soon. Youngblood will focus on B.J.’s twin daughters as they fight to liberate Europe from the Nazis and rescue their father. The spinoff will arrive sometime next year.
