FX had previously revealed its plans for a Y: The Last Man pilot, and has since shared new casting announcements. Y: The Last Man is, of course, a beloved graphic novel series from writer Brian K. Vaughn that follows the adventures of Yorick Brown, the last man on earth. Yorick – along with his pet monkey – venture across a post-apocalyptic world in which all male humans and animals have mysteriously died.
Barry Keoghan from The Killing of a Sacred Deer and Dunkirk will star as Yorick, the main character, and news has just been shared that Diane Lane has also been cast. She is set to play Jennifer Brown, a politician, as well as Yorick’s mother. Additionally, Imogen Poots from Green Room, Lashana Lynch of the upcoming Captain Marvel, and Juliana Canfield of HBO’s Succession have also been cast.
More casting news for the pilot based on Vaughn’s graphic novel series is exciting, as this may finally mean that we’ll get a television series out of the comics. It will be interesting to see how the series develops, but for the time being, it seems FX has a solid cast of actors lined up and we may finally see something interesting come to the big screen fr0m Vaughn’s fantastic work.
