Chasm, a Metroidvania title that has been in the making for quite some time is finally getting a release date. Set to be released on July 31, 2018, the game will be available on the PC, PlayStation 4 and even the PS Vita. Sadly, the game won’t be making its way to the Xbox One or Switch.
A few weeks ago, the team took to Steam and announced that production of the game had been finished. They just didn’t know when the release date would be. But now we know. Priced at $19.99, Chasm will support cross-buy on the PS4 and PS Vita. So if you purchase it on the PS4, you’ll snag the PS Vita copy and vice versa.
Chasm will include the following:
- Over 80 enemies
- Over 10 bosses and mini-bosses
- Over 130 weapons, armor, and accessories – not including gems, potions, and other treasures to be discovered
- Authentic pixel art with a 384×216 native resolution
- Proprietary world building engine that generates a unique map for each campaign playthrough
- Approximately 10-15 hours of gameplay for one full campaign
While it would seem that Chasm is just another Metroidvania title. It has a very unique charm, while the combat is engaging and flows well. At the time of its development, there weren’t many games that did what Chasm has done. There’s even a card game within the game that you can mess around with. That is if you’re bored of adventuring.
Recently I had a chance to check out the game during PAX East 2018. A more recent build of the game and it definitely showed more polish compared to the previous demo. People had to fight me off with a stick, as I kept going back to get more time with the game. Its been six years in the making, and I for one can’t wait to dive into the full version of the game.
Watch for our review once we’ve gotten our hands on the title.
