Sony ain’t having none of that
Omega Labyrinth Z, a lewd dungeon crawler title, that places its characters in rather compromising positions has been canceled in the West. Previously banned in several countries (UK & Australia), Sony has stepped in and has denied the game from reaching the stores of North America. So if you were looking forward to it, you’ll have to import it.
PQube, the publisher and the company who was handling the localization had this to say about the cancellation.
PQube strives to release Japanese content for its fans as close to the source material as possible. In the case of Omega Labyrinth Z, while PQube has worked with all relevant age rating bodies in their respective territories, PQube must respectfully comply with the wishes of the platform holder and have therefore withdrawn any future plans for Omega Labyrinth Z’s European and North American release on PS4 and PS Vita.
Sony, has made headlines as of recently, mainly due to the issue of locking people who played Fortnite on to their console. Denying cross-play with the Xbox One and Switch, and has a fair share of gamers upset over the entire ordeal. Now, I can see this frustrating a bit more due to this. However, I agree with Sony on this one. This title is very “sexual orientated” and involves putting the characters in certain situations and touching that is concerned inappropriate. Oddly enough it was ok to allow this game to be released overseas, so it just goes to show you how censorship and ratings depending on the countries involved.
What I want to know is what does this mean for other games that are similar to this? For example, the Senran Kagura games that are commonplace in the West. With Senran Kagura Burst Re:Newal coming out later for the PS4 in the West. Will Sony step in and censor it or reject it completely as well?
