Yes, folks, Death’s Gambit finally has a release date! What started off as a project way back in 2013, then later revisited in 2014, is finally getting a release date. August 14, 2018, is when we’ll finally get our hands on 2D Action-RPG and I can’t wait. It will be released on both the PlayStation 4 and PC.
Previously known as Terminus, Jean Canellas has been working on this title ever since he attended the University of Southern California. Little did he know that in four years would the title become of the most eagerly awaited indie games in quite some time. I’ve been watching this game ever since I saw it at PAX East 2014 and have been watching the development of the title for a while now. It will be nice to finally get more than a few minutes of hands-on and watching from afar, that’s for sure.
Taking place on an alien world, you play as a reluctant protagonist that makes a deal with Death during their dying moment (hence the name). In exchange for your life, you’re tasked with hunting down the immortals that roam throughout the world. The game has a Metroidvania feel to it, while the gameplay has elements of several popular rogue-like titles. You know which ones, I don’t have to remind you. There’s even a central hub that will open up once you progress past the first boss in the game.
Death’s Gambit is currently up for pre-order on Steam, for $19.99. Snagging it ahead of the release will net your several in-game bonuses. And yes, I’ve pre-ordered my copy.
- The Death Scythe
- Necrotic Shield
- Legendary Pale Mount
The PC system requirements are really tame as well. Currently, this is what is being shown on steam and judging from the OS, these could be old. We’ll update this once we find out what the actual specs are.
Minimum Specs:
- OS: Windows 7
- Processor: Dual Core 2.4 Ghz or higher
- Memory: 2 GB RAM
So there you have it. August 14th, 2018 for the PS4 and PC. I can’t wait for this, well except for I do have to wait until it does release. But when it does, expect to hear me talk about this game non-stop.
