The Strong announced their 2018 inductees to their Video Game Hall of Fame. This year’s inductees are Final Fantasy VII, John Madden Football, Tomb Raider and Spacewar! That Strong, which describes themselves as a National Museum of Play, launched their Hall of Fame back in 2015 in an effort to recognize Video Games and their creators. The selection process is a rigid one that The Strong describes as follows:
Anyone may nominate a game to the World Video Game Hall of Fame. Final selections are made on the advice of journalists, scholars, and other individuals familiar with the history of video games and their role in society.
There were other titles up for consideration for this year’s Hall of Fame which included: Asteroids, Call of Duty, King’s Quest, Minecraft, Metroid, Ms. Pack-Man, Dance Dance Revolution and Half-Life.
The games will be on a permanent display in its eGameRevolution exhibit. These four will be joining the likes of Pong, Pac-Man, Tetris, Super Mario Bros. Doom, World of Warcraft, The Legend of Zelda, Sonic the Hedgehog, Space Invaders, Grand Theft Auto III, The Oregon Trail, The Sims, Donkey Kong, Halo: Combat Evolved, Pokemon Red and Green and Street Fighter II!
Congratulations to this year’s entries!
