“So what’s the sitch?”
Think Disney is satisfied with Star Wars and Movie films? If you said yes, then you’d be wrong, as the company is interested in developing a live action movie of a beloved cult classic. That classic being “Kim Possible”. Yes, that Kim Possible *Cue the theme song*!
I can’t begin to tell you that I can’t wait for this film to be completed. I loved the series, as well as both movies. Easily one of Disney’s best-animated shows, outside of their movies. We haven’t seen or heard about Kim since ‘Kim Possible Movie: So the Drama’, and that was in 2005. Thankfully, this is all going to change.
The script for the film is good hands as well. Fans of the Kim Possible series will be happy to know that it is being written by the series’ creators. Yep, both Robert Schooley and Mark McCorkle, are also along for the ride. I’m happy to see them both on board. This also means they weren’t going to let just anyone work on their baby. And that is fantastic news.
“Mark and Bob created an enduring character and kids all over the world found a friend in her, an average girl who just happens to spend her off-school hours thwarting evil villains,” said Adam Bonnett, executive VP of original programming at Disney Channels Worldwide, in a statement. “Although Kim Possible ‘can do anything,’ kids and tweens found that this animated redhead was just like them. As we embark on the fun challenge of making Kim and Ron fully dimensional, I’m thrilled to be working again with Mark and Bob and to welcome the addition of a dynamic creative team—Josh, Zanne, Adam and Zach—into a world where anything is indeed possible.”
While the casting has already started on the project, there hasn’t been any word on who has been picked to star as Kim Possible. Or more importantly, Ron Stoppable. Outside of those two characters, who will definitely be in the film, there hasn’t been any word on the rest of the cast. Still, it’s hard to imagine Kim and Ron not getting back up from Wade. I’m sure he’ll be there, as well as antagonists Shego and Drakken. Or at least we can hope they are.
Oh Disney, if I could make a recommendation. How about casting Madelaine Petsch for the role of Kim Possible? Just a thought.
Seeing how the film is getting off the ground, there’s no word on when we’ll see this project being released. Just know when it does, I’ll be in line for tickets. Oh man, that updated theme song is going to be so epic.
