God of War, the long-awaited revival of the iconic PlayStation franchise finally has a release date. Sony Santa Monica has kept their word on a 2018 release, and God of War releases sooner than one might have thought – April 20th.
Along with the announcement on the official PlayStation Blog came another story trailer on the journey of Kratos and Atreus:
In addition, three special editions of God of War are now available for preorder. The Collector’s Edition comes with a 9″ statue of Kratos and Atreus, a cloth map, and a few digital bonuses. The Stone Mason Edition comes with all this, as well as four additional exclusive items previewed below.
Finally, a digital deluxe edition is available with a digital art book, a God of War comic book issue from Dark Horse, and a physical exclusive pin with preorders. Preorders of any edition of the game will get a set of legendary shield skins in-game.
It felt like a long wait for a release date announcement since God of War‘s reveal at E3 2016. Confirmation of a Spring 2018 release is exciting news, and hopefully more release date announcements of other PS4 exclusives will follow suit.
