Netflix has revealed the rest of the core cast of The Umbrella Academy, and there are some big names coming your way.
Announced by Netflix in July, My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way’s graphic novel The Umbrella Academy will be getting a 10-episode TV adaptation on Netflix in 2018. It was later revealed in November that Ellen Page (Beyond: Two Souls) will play the main character, Vanya, aka the White Violin.
Joining Ellen Page will be:
Tom Hopper (Game of Thrones) as Luther, aka Spaceboy. He has super-strength, and after a terrible accident during an expedition to Mars, his head had to be transplanted onto the body of a gorilla. Ehem…
Emmy Raver-Lampman (Hamilton) as Allison, aka The Rumor, who can alter reality by lying.
David Castaneda (El Chicano) as Diego, codenamed The Kraken. He is sort of a fuse between Aquaman and Batman. He can hold his breath indefinitely, which gives him an advantage when in water, and is an expert knife thrower.
Robert Sheehan (Misfits) as Klaus aka The Seance, the most morbid character of the group. His powers, which manifest only when he’s barefoot, include levitation, telekinesis, and the ability to contant the dead. In the comics, Klaus is killed at one point but rejected from both Heaven and Hell.
Aidan Gallagher (Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn) as Number Five, simply codenamed The Boy. He can effortlessly travel in time and does not age due to a temporal condition.
The live action series follows the estranged members of a dysfunctional family of superheroes — The Monocle, Spaceboy, The Kraken, The Rumor, The Séance, Number Five, The Horror, and the seemingly powerless Vanya — as they work together to solve their father’s mysterious death while coming apart at the seams due to their divergent personalities and abilities.
The Umbrella Academy will premiere on Netflix in 2018.
