It feels like forever since we’ve seen Hideo Kojima’s latest project, Death Stranding, shown at E3 2016. Since then, we have received a bit of information about the upcoming title, but not enough to see the vision as clear as we may like.
To be fair, over the past year since the initial Death Stranding reveal, pieces of the puzzle have begun to fall into place.
We know that Shawn Layden, the chairman of Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios, has had the chance to actually play this game. He has mentioned that it is “up and running” and while taking a crack at death stranding through the available prototype levels he voices tat he too is not completely filled in bu saying: “I couldn’t explain to you what the game is…”
As of recently, Kojima has also taken to Twitter to give an update on the next piece of the game being worked on, the script.
By watching this mountain probably not going to visit in my life but I see it everyday and writing the script. pic.twitter.com/qb7r2H0FrQ

This is definitely where Kojima shines. The writing of the script is where we get dialogue, character development, and the overall story. I know fans are just itching to find out more as everything becomes more complete. Though we may not have the game for another two years, any and every little update helps!
Our hopes, however, is that Kojima will bring us fans some exciting new details pertaining to the game this week at the Brazil Game Show, where he is scheduled to appear. Kojima’s first year at the Brazil Game Show will be quite momentous seeing that he will be receiving a special Lifetime Achievement Award during the show.
This award will be presented to him for all of his efforts and contributions throughout his time in the industry. Much of this acknowledgings his work on the timeless Metal Gear series but does not exclude other titles he has been a part of.
While there could be room during the event scheduled for October 11-15 to talk about death stranding, Hideo Kojima has certainly earned the award and this moment for him should be celebrated.
For now, let us all patiently wait for any updates for Death Stranding in the near or maybe distant future. Just as we have gotten updates here and there surrounding the game’s development over the last year, we never know what could be around the corner as far as what Kojima decides to reveal to the public.
