Sony’s Charlie’s Angels reboot, which is slated for a Summer 2019 release, has quite a star-studded list in consideration for its casting of the three lead actresses, according to Variety.
Kristen Stewart, famous for her role as Bella Thorne in Twilight, is being considered for one of the three members of the female private detective firm. She isn’t the only name in consideration, as other names such as Lupita Nyong’o is being considered while casting is underway.
Elizabeth Banks, who played Rita Repulsa in the Lionsgate Power Rangers reboot, is directing the film, and Sony believes that the project will spawn a franchise.
Charlie’s Angels first came to fruition as a five-season television show on ABC from September 22, 1976, to June 24, 1981. The show was adapted as a movie in 2000, led by Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, and Elementary‘s Lucy Liu playing the Angels. While the first movie was a financial and critical hit, earning $264.1 million, Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle underperformed domestically, getting a lift from overseas audiences, netting $4.9 million less, at $259.2 million globally.
