The producers of the hit animated revival of the Voltron series on Netflix unleashed some news concerning the upcoming season of Voltron: Legendary Defender at their SDCC panel on Thursday.
The first piece of news comes as quite a disappointment, as Joaquim Dos Santos said that the third season of the show will be shortened from 13 episodes to 7. However, the news that the following new season will hit the streaming service in September.
According to Lauren Montgomery, the idea behind the news of a release almost immediately after the August 4th release of Season three was to “give fans more Voltron, more often.”
Season 3 is taking one of its darkest turns yet, as Shiro has disappeared and Prince Lotor has made his appearance known. Fans who attended SDCC 2017 also got the chance to view the first episode of season 3 during today’s panel as well.
Season 3 of Voltron: Legendary Defender releases on Netflix on Friday, August 4th. Expect a review of Season 3 once it premieres on Netflix.
