Nickelodeon has been on fire the last few days. Forget the new episodes of Power Rangers Ninja Steel. Invader Zim and Rocko’s Modern Life movies? Whatever! During Friday’s Hey Arnold! panel at San Diego Comic-Con, fans got a taste of the long awaited Hey Arnold: The Jungle Movie.
First things first, as revealed this past June, while most of the original voices will be returning to the Hey Arnold universe (including Francesca Marie Smith as Helga and Twin Peaks’ Jim Belushi as Coach Wittenberg,) Arnold and Gerald, among other characters, will be getting new voice actors. Mad Men’s Mason Vale Cotton will be voicing Arnold, while Game Shakers‘ Benjamin Flores Jr. will voice Gerald.
During the panel, it was indicated that the original voices of Arnold and Gerald, Lane Toran and Jamil Walker Smith, will be voicing other characters, first popping up in the jungle. Series creator Craig Bartlett revealed that “friendships get tested” during the movie.
