Not too long ago, I stated that it was only a matter of time before we started seeing Microsoft published titles on other digital stores. More specifically, I was referring to those appearing on Steam. So far we’ve seen Quantum Break, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Halo Wars: Definitive Edition, Ori and the Blind Forest and State of Decay: YOSE. Now we can add another title to the list, Killer Instinct.
Earlier today, it was announced that Killer Instinct will make it’s way to Steam. While there hasn’t been an exact date on when the title will arrive on Steam, it’s nice to see that this is finally happening. No longer will PC gamers be forced to use Windows 10 to play the title. This also will help extend the games’ reach and community, which is definitely a positive.
In addition, let’s not kid ourselves here. Downloading games from the Windows 10 store hasn’t exactly been easy or painless. Steam is rather pleasant when it comes to purchasing and downloading games, so this is yet another benefit here. Finally, since the game utilizes DirectX 11, there shouldn’t be any major performance differences between either the Win10 and Steam versions.
That's right, KI is coming to Steam later this year! Thanks to @CEOJebailey for helping us break the news. More details to follow.

But there still questions that need to be answered. Will this support cross-play between the Win10 and Xbox One versions? Will paid content from either version carry over? And will mods finally be supported? For those answers, keep following the Killer Instinct twitter account here and the Killer Instinct forums. We’ll definitely keep on top of this store and keep everyone informed as well.
