Recently, Nintendo made headlines when they revealed that their popular-yet-understocked NES Classic was being discontinued. Which made a lot of people angry. But now, it appears that Nintendo is already lining up the next in the “classic” line with the debut of the SNES Classic.
According to Eurogamer, Nintendo is already in production of the mini console, and is gearing up for a Christmas launch according to their sources.
The big question is obviously will this be a long-term item, or will it be another “novelty” like the NES Classic was. Also of course, what games could the SNES Classic have? For many Nintendo fans (including our own Tyler who noted his love of the system on the Nintendo Entertainment Podcast), the SNES is one of if not the greatest Nintendo console ever. It had Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past, Super Mario World, the original Mario Kart, three Donkey Kong Country titles, Super Metroid, Earthbound, and much, MUCH, more. And with the NES Classic having 30 games, who knows what the SNES Classic could have when all is said and done.
It’s still a rumor technically, but something tells us this is actually going to happen. What would you like to see on the SNES Classic? Let us know in the comments below!
