Let that headline sink in for a bit, ok? Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, in one day, has already done better than all other video games on Amazon this year. Think about that. No, really, think about that. As you’ll see here on the Amazon Bestsellers page (so far for this year anyway), the game has outsold (somehow…) all other games that have come out this year. This of
This of course includes such titles as Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Horizon: Zero Dawn, which occupy spots in the top ten. And remember, Breath of the Wild has sold 3 million copies, and while it’s true that Amazon wasn’t the main seller, this is still very impressive.
Oh, and recall, this is an updated port of Mario Kart 8. So this isn’t a new game like Breath of the Wild, Snipperclips, 1, 2, Switch, and others were, so for it to be doing this well already? Speaks volumes. And it’s not like it didn’t sell well on the Wii U, it’s actually the highest selling Wii U game.
So what does this all mean? Well, if the numbers hold (and something tells us it will…) it means that the Nintendo Switch has another bonafide hit on its hands. And in many ways this is the last big 1st party Nintendo Switch game until June when Arms comes out, so it’s god to know that this will likely carry it until then.
Stay tuned for our review of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe! It should be coming out Monday!
