While the PS4 has been made to easily swap out the hard drive, most gamers still aren’t comfortable with doing it. The fact that they have to open up the system simply makes them nervous. So that being said, External Hard Drive Support has been something that has been asked about a lot. But when is it, if it ever is coming?
Well, looks like we’re going to be seeing it soon, as part of the upcoming PS4 System Update 4.50. The function is being rolled out to those who were selected for the PS4 System Software Update 4.50 beta. The beta is being released today, so if you signed up, check your emails. We should start seeing feedback as to how the external hard drive support works.
The update also adds other functions such as Quick Menu Refresh, Simplified Notification List, Custom Wallpapers. and the ability to post on PSN activity feeds. Lastly, owners of the PSVR will be able to watch 3D movies directly on the headset.
So be sure to check your emails today to see if you were selected. If you missed the sign-up, it looks like they’re still taking registrations here.
