After many delays, it honestly wasn’t too much of a surprise when Nintendo announced that Legend of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild would be coming to both Wii U and the Nintendo Switch. And as was revealed at the Nintendo Switch event, BOTW will be the launch title for the Switch. But, that leave the question, what will be different about them?
Before you say, “why would there be anything different?”, remember this, Twilight Princess came out on the Gamecube and the Wii, and the Wii version had slightly better graphics, and the motion controls. So it’s not too far out of the range for there to be differences between the Wii U and Switch versions.
The good news is, outside of the obvious “play anywhere” mechanic of the Switch, the content, controls, and gameplay of Breath Of The Wild is the same. The only real difference is the graphics. Not the framerate, that’ll be the same. But the graphics will run on 1080p on the Switch, and 720p on the Wii U. Though to be fair, the 1080p on Switch is when it’s in TV Mode.
Another small difference is that the loading times for the game will be different, as the Switch will be faster due to it reading from a cartridge rather than a disk. This comes from Zelda Producer Eiji Aonuma.
So, will this change your opinion of whether you get Breath Of The Wild for Switch or Wii U? Let us know in the comments!
