Announced just a few minutes ago by Rod Fergusson, the Studio Head of The Coalition, Gears of War is getting a movie. Not much is known other than the relationship between the studio and Universal Studios, who will be working on the movie. If memory serves me right, a Gears movie was rumored a few years back but nothing every materialized. Good to see it’s finally happening.
Update: A press release from Microsoft has added the following bit of info.
Scott Stuber (“Ted” series, “Central Intelligence”) and Dylan Clark (“Planet of the Apes” series, “Oblivion”) will produce for their Universal-based Bluegrass Films. In addition, Executive Vice President of Production Jon Mone will oversee the project for Universal and Senior Vice President Jay Ireland will oversee for Bluegrass.
Yeah, that’s all anyone knows, but an announcement is pretty cool. And while it’s too early to say anything, I really hope this doesn’t become yet another casualty of the video games adaptations turned into movies.
