I love me some Gundam, both the anime and the games. So I was pretty much bouncing off the walls when Bandai Namco announced a brand new Gundam game for the PS4. Except, it’s not just for the PlayStation 4, but an entirely new game built just for the PlayStation 4. Currently being named Gundam Versus, the name suggests it looks as if we’ll be playing with (hopefully) just about the entire roster of Gundams from both the anime and the games.
If the trailer is any indication, we’re going to see some fan favorite Gundams. From Barbaros Gundam from MSG: Ironblooded Orphans, Gundam Unicorn, Exia from Gundam 00, Gundam Thunderbolt: Full Armor Gundam (the one with four shields) and the original Gundam itself, the RX-78-2 from Mobile Suit Gundam, all of which were featured in the trailer that Bandai Namco released. So in recap, a brand new Gundam game that’s not based off any of the previous games, nor anime? Let’s also hope that we just don’t see Gundams, as various other suits in the shows were equally impressive and I’d love to pilot those as well.
Since the title was just unveiled, there’s no word on if it will see a North American release, but I sincerely hope that it does. There’s a ton of Gundam-loving, PlayStation 4 owners over here, like me. We’ve already missed out on so many fantastic Gundam-based games over here as it is, it would be a shame to miss yet another. Here’s to hoping we see more of Gundam Versus, during the 2016 Toyko Game Show.
