Sales are important to every company, and with each month comes new games that can push publishers to the top, and some to the bottom.
In July, it could be argued that the winner was an unexpected one, as the Nintendo 3DS was on top in sales in regards to hardware, and had many titles in the Top 10 in sales. According to IGN, as the list itself has been delayed to the 22nd, this included Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire were on the Top 10 at 8 and 10, which was no doubt influenced by the release of Pokemon GO.
Furthermore, the more recent generation of Pokemon X & Y saw massive increases in sales, showing the further effect of Pokemon GO.
An interesting thing here is that Microsoft released a statement ahead of the NPD report stating that the Xbox One was the best selling hardware of the month, but this seems to contradict that. We’ll update this piece when the Top 10 list is revealed.
