The remake of a PC classic title from the now-defunct Origins, System Shock, has been funded. Being handled by Night Dive, the Kickstarter campaign went live less than 12 days ago, with an initial goal of $900,000. As of today, the project has earned over $930,000, with 18 more days to go.
However, the project still has system stretch goals starting a 1.1 million. So if you’re looking to toss a few dollars at the project I’m sure Night Dive won’t mind. You can head over to the System Shock Kickstarter campaign here.
If you’re interested in supporting the project, but don’t know quite what to expect then you’re in luck. Night Dive has created a short demo System Shock and has made it available for download on Steam, GOG, and Humble Store.
I have fond memories of playing this so many years ago on the PC, this and the eventual sequel, System Shock 2. So here’s to hoping that this remake can live up to the original title, which after playing the demo, it’s definitely has a great start. Hey, who knows. Now that Night Dive owns the rights to the System Shock series, perhaps we can get a System Shock 3. Everyone who beat System Shock 2 knows exactly what I”m stating that.
