In what could be considered one of the biggest surprises of the year in the world of professional wrestling/sports entertainment, Cody Rhodes (Cody Runnels) announced Saturday on his personal Twitter account that he requested his release from World Wrestling Entertainment:
(1/2) The past ten years have been quite the trek, but as of earlier today I have asked for my release from @WWE
— Hyrule Husky (@PrinceCGR) May 21, 2016
(2/2) I’ll speak further on the matter shortly. Thank you to all the pro-wrestling/sports entertainment fans worldwide. Thank you

Initial reports stated that Cody, who had been performing under the moniker of Stardust, and his brother Dustin (Goldust) had left this past week’s SmackDown tapings early. However, it was confirmed by Rhodes that all reports were “100% false.”
Just a few minutes ago, WWE released the following statement on their Facebook page, as well as their main site:
WWE has come to terms on the release of Cody Rhodes as of today, May 22, 2016. WWE wishes Cody the best in all his future endeavors.
Coming off of the heels of what many consider the Titan Towers Massacre (yearly mass release of talent after WrestleMania), Cody’s departure from the company is a huge shock to many fans. We here at the Outerhaven wish him the best in his future endeavors as well, and hope that he gets to play some more Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past.
