Yu Yu Hakusho, arguably one of the best animes from the 90’s is getting the free treatment from FUNimation; however, it’s not the entire series (yet) and with some limitations. FUNimation is offering up the first 28 episodes free of charge on their streaming service in standard definition only. Every week, FUNimation will add 28 more episodes to the list until the entire series “unlocks” and can be viewed. In addition to SD quality, you will be subjected to advertisements during playback. If there is some silver lining to this, you do get the option to choose between sub-titles and the English dub. This offer is only good to residents in the United States and Canada due to licensing restrictions.
Yu Yu Hakusho was created by Yoshihiro Togashi and originally aired in Japan from 1992 to 1994 and spanned 112 episodes. Toonami picked it up here in the United States and aired it from 2002 to 2006. Togashi also went on to create the highly popular series Hunter x Hunter.
