Seiji Kishi, the director behind Assassination Classroom’s second season, conducted an interview with Shueisha’s Weekly Shounen JUMP magazine. Kishi stated that the second season of the anime will cover the manga all the up to the final chapter, making both seasons a complete adaptation. Last week, it was stated that the manga would be concluding in the next chapter, however, the wording was misinterpreted by many and later clarified that the manga will be ending in five more chapters. While the manga will be ending in roughly four more weeks, the anime still has a long ways to go as this season, like the first, is slated to have 25 episodes and will not conclude until the end of the spring anime season in June. This will bring the total number of episodes of the anime up to 50 when all is said and done.
Assassination Classroom focuses on an alien that has destroyed the moon and wants to do the same to the Earth; however, he is relegated to teaching Class E… a group of underachieving students. The students are charged by the Japanese government with assassinating their teacher to save the Earth in exchange for a 10 billion yen reward; however, the alien ends up being the best teacher they’ve ever had.
