Bandai Namco has put out an intense new trailer for their upcoming action RPG, Dark Souls 3. In classic Souls fashion, the video has an intimidating title: “Darkness Has Spread”. April had always been the target for a Western release, but we can now better prepare to die with the precise date of April 12, 2016.
The story of Dark Souls 3 has been interesting: it was first announced as a “final chapter” in the saga, before series creator Hidetaka Miyazaki quickly backpedaled. More recent comments, however, seem to have confirmed earlier notions that this game will be wrapping up threads that have been running throughout the entire series. Miyazaki told Gamespot that there will be a “conclusion to a large theme” that will “leave you with the impression of what Dark Souls was really about.” More surprising, Miyazaki seemed quite open about the fact that From Software is looking at moving away from the franchise and working on new ideas.
This very well may be the last Souls game we see from Miyazaki for some time, so we can only imagine what kind of challenges will be thrown in to keep players busy. For more gameplay details on what’s new, what’s staying the same, and how to stay alive, click here.
