Nintendo released a new Nintendo Direct today, filled with tons of announcements. Here’s everything they had to show. Please note, some of the release dates listed were already known, but I’m including them here as reminders anyway. On with the list!
- First, Reggie Fils-Aime addressed the passing of Satoru Iwata and thanked everyone for their support
- Looks like the rumors were true, as The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD was announced for Wii U, with release on March 4, 2016. Also getting a Wolf Link Amiibo figure, included in a bundle with the game. Pre orders up today, with the soundtrack as a pre order bonus. Read more here
- Wolf Link Amiibo will also carry over some data to the new Zelda game on Wii U, which is still due out 2016
- The Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes is getting a free update with a new area dubbed “The Den of Trials” and two new outfits, due out December 2, 2015
- New footage and information for Pokemon: Super Mystery Dungeon, launches November 20, 2015 with a free 3DS theme for a limited time
- New content coming to Splatoon today and tomorrow, including new stages and equipment
- Nintendo Treehouse is holding Splatoon tournament (“Splatournament”) in December, livestreamed on their Twitch and Youtube channels, as well as live.nintendo.com
- Super Mario Maker is getting a portal site to search for courses on the go, planned for release in December
- Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival details shared, Isabelle and Digby Amiibo figures are only available in a game bundle at launch. Releases November 13, 2015 with other various Amiibo figures available
- Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash details and footage shown, releases November 20, 2015
- Small preview of Xenoblade Chronicles X, 4 free data packs to lessen game load times are available for download today in preparation for launch on December 4, 2015
- New Nintendo eShop games shown, including Nintendo Badge Arcade, Pokemon Picross, and SteamWorld Heist for 3DS, FAST Racing Neo and Typoman for Wii U
- A reminder that Yo-kai Watch is now available for 3DS
- New Wii U bundle coming with Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Splatoon, as well as some deals on original 3DSXL systems this Black Friday
- New batch of Amiibo figures/cards coming January 22, 2016, including the Lucas Amiibo figure
- Trailer for Pokken Tournament featuring Shadow Mewtwo, first run copies include an Amiibo card that unlocks him automatically. Game will release Spring 2016
- Star Fox Zero may have been delayed, but has a new trailer, new footage, and a new release date of April 22, 2016. Read more here
- New footage and details for Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam, releases on January 22, 2016
- New footage and details for Final Fantasy Explorers, all DLC already released in Japan will be free on day one, and a Collector’s Edition was shown with the game, an artbook, 3DS hardcase, 20-track soundtrack, and exclusive quests to unlock classic Final Fantasy weapons. Releases January 26, 2016
- Fire Emblem Fates was also shown with release and pricing details. The two main installments, Birthright and Conquest, will be $39.99 each. Buying one nets you the other for download at a reduced price of $19.99. A third installment, Revelation, will be released later as an in-game download. A special edition was also announced, bundling all three installments with an artbook and a 3DSXL pouch for $79.99. Releases February 19, 2016, with DLC available right now at select retailers
- Footage and details shown for Mega Man Legacy Collection, exclusive challenges unlocked by using Mega Man Amiibo figure , Collector’s Edition announced bundling the game with a gold Mega Man Amiibo figure. Releases February 23, 2016. Read more here
- Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow versions coming to 3DS eShop with new wireless features on February 27, 2016
- Hyrule Warriors Legends footage and details shown, including new character “Linkle,” the first female Link. Releases March 25, 2016 with a 3DS theme for a limited time
- Reminder that Bravely Second: End Layer is coming Spring 2016
- Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past and Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King are both coming to 3DS in 2016, with VII confirmed for “early summer 2016” release
- Rundown of games coming to Wii U and 3DS in 2016, such as Hive Jump, Kerbal Space Program, Mighty No. 9, Lego Marvel’s Avengers, Project X Zone 2, and Terarria
- Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII is coming to Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS, complete with a Midgar-based stage, as well as chocobo-themed costumes for Mii Fighter. Read more here
